Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September 1983) is an American actress best well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television show Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Following the divorce of her parents, she left Worthington in Ohio and moved in Los Angeles. As she struggled financially, she was able to land her first acting gig as Rachel's Room's title character the web-based video show Rachel's Room in 2001. In 2002 she was nominated to receive a Young Artist Award with her character as a 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford was the lead actress in Lost during its initial two seasons. In 2004, she won the Screen Actors Guild Award with all of the ensemble. Grace decided to concentrate on film after starring opposite Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. She starred as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken in 2008) as Suburban Girl as well as The Jane Austen Book Club. She reprised her role for Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the leading role in Alice on Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to Shannon's character as Shannon in Lost for two episodes, including the series final. She appeared in 2013's sixth season of Californication. She plays Faith as an admirer and muse to the celebrities. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. As a part of the Gyllenhaal Family, she's the daughter and older sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began as a teenager with small appearances in the films of her father and starred with her brother in the famous cult classic Donnie Darko (2001). Her subsequent roles included Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, both 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal has received critical praise for her lead performances in Secretary (2002 an erotic romantic drama), and Sherrybaby (606), both that earned her Golden Globe Award nods. She gained wider recognition after playing Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008) due to the success of several commercial films she starred in in the year 2006. Her performance in Crazy Heart as a mother who is a single parent received her a nomination in an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. Following that she appeared in comedy as well as dramatic movies: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012. She also was a Secret Service Agent in White House Down the action thriller that was released in 2013. She also played as well as a singer on the set of Frank (2014), and The lead for the lead role in The Kindergarten Teacher, a film that debuted in the year 2018. Gyllenhaal was the writer and director of her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The drama about psychological issues won the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The Lost Daughter was also nominated for The Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
